 At the south shore of Lake Balaton, the water is very shallow for a couple of hundred meters and the shore is fine sandy. The prevailing wind is northwesterly, and from the south directions it is southwester. Because of the huge open water surface, the northerly winds are blowing smoothly, that’s why the conditions are excellent for kitesurfers and windsurfers.
In the summer, the water temperature -mainly on the south shore- can reach 26 celsius, but the braves can even enjoy the water sports from March to November. In the winter with it’s thick ice, Balaton offers good possibilities for ice-skating, ice- and snowkiting and ice-surfing.
The Surfbeach is an outstanding location: because of the projection of the shore, the athletes don’t have to walk hundreds of meters to reach deep water, but the shallow water is also perfect for instruction and for beginners practising on their own. The sandy beach is unique: we cleared away the stones to make the walking into the water with our kites above our head much more easy!
The „Strand Kemping” holiday camp offers possibilities of having a shower and relaxation for the tired athletes. The discounted accomodation is ensured for the surfbeach visitors, so the next day everybody is able to continue the sport and relaxation with reassured strenght.
